Kinda stayed to long in Bangalore. I was there 11 days, and it is not really that nice of a city. At least, my side of town had a few things to do, where i wasnt trapped in traffic for hours. Well, i havent been able to post for several days because, although i had internet, it didnt have enough speed and bandwidth to upload pictures. I am finally at a holiday inn in Mumbai, and i am able to get the blog caught up. So, i stayed in Bangalore for 11 days, and spent Christmas there. After which, my plan is to leave on New Years Eve and go to Pondicherry. Pondicherry is an old French colony on the east coast of India. It has a French Quarter, they call it Heritage Town. Anyway, lets finish out Bangalore. Now that i am able to reflect back on Bangalore, i can only say that i really didnt like it. I wouldnt go back and wouldnt recommend it. However, i did settle into a nice rhythm there… i joined a gym for a week, only to give back the calories on lavish dinners 🙂 yea!!
Here is some mo Bango..
Its not overloaded. I saw worse.
Bangalore Fort. It was free to get in… doesnt seem to have any historical significance.
Not much to see here. It wasnt very large. You just kinda walk around the courtyard and that was it.. 7 minutes and you are done.
Maruti Suzuki, India’s number one seller. Maruti was up over 20% last year, while Chevy was down 35%. I went to talk to a store manager at a chevy store, and he stated the top three reasons for the ill performance:
1) cost more than the competitor: maruti and hyundai
2) previous models had bad reliability, Indians dont trust them now
3) resale is very poor, compared to maruti
His store sold 35-40 new cars a month, and was regarded as a decent performing store. Good luck to him, he was a nice guy.
Off to the Benargatta national park. I finally booked a Hindustan Ambassador!! I have wanted to ride in one of those the whole time i was here… they were always booked up! Very popular taxis. My driver was really nice, and he kept that car super clean. He probably cleans it daily.
They feed the animals in the morning, so they all come out and it is easy to view them from the tour vehicle.
Morning is the best time to go. Just make sure you are there by 9 am, and get on the first three tour buses, or else you will have a three hour wait. Plus, the animals take a nap after breaky, and you wont get to see them close.
I got in the first bus!!
Elephant. Munching down.
Black bears. The two in the center are brothers and they have a morning ritual of play fighting, according to our guide.
We are about to enter some really protected areas….
